Our History
Founded in 2001 as Dunedin Shades & Repairs, Lighting by Design has evolved from a small lampshade and lamp repair shop into a full service lighting showroom.
Since moving into our current location and taking our new name in late 2004 we have been committed to providing our customers with top quality lighting and attentive personal service.
Our family has over 30 combined years in the lighting industry, and looks forward to continuing to serve our community, and helping to show them how to make their homes better, by design.

Our Services
Lighting Repair & Restoration

Just because we sell new lamps and fixtures doesn't mean we don't value your old ones. We have a full repair department that can do everything from changing a socket or cord, to restoring a vintage chandelier. No matter what is wrong with your lamp or fixture, we can help. We are also happy to assess older pieces for you to ensure that they are in good electrical condition. Broken glass? No problem. We
have access to a wide variety of replacement glass through our manufacturers, and can even have glass shades hand painted to match originals.
Custom Lamp Shades & Recovers

Have a lampshade that is ripped or worn out? In addition to our selection of in stock basic shades we also offer custom creations and shade recovers. You can choose from our vast assortment of fabrics and trims, or you can provide your own fabric. We can also use your existing frame and have it recovered. This is an especially good choice when the shape or size of your current shade is no longer available. You can let your imagination soar with our custom capabilities!
We can also assist with arranging delivery and installation of your selections, ask for details.
Design Consultations

In Store Design Consultations
Whether you are building a large custom home, remodeling your powder room, or updating the dining room, we are here to help. Generally the process will begin in our showroom where we can review any blueprints or plans you may have and discuss styles, finishes, and budgets. In many cases we can move directly to fixture selection during your initial visit.

On Site Design Consultations
For larger or more complicated projects we can arrange to visit your construction site or home to do a walk through and get exact measurements. From there, we work with you in the showroom to pick the perfect lighting fixtures for you home. Contact us to get more information or to schedule a consultation for your project.
Don't be intimidated by the term "Design Consultations," these are services we offer based on a client's particular needs. We focus on each customer individually and try to provide personal, attentive service to everyone, regardless of the size of your purchase.
